Details

Solgar L-Glutathione 250mg provides free-form glutathione, a sulphur-containing peptide made up of three amino acids: glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. Glutathione is a water-soluble antioxidant and important for the body’s cellular defence, provides antioxidant support for the liver, brain, heart, lung, and eyes, and protects against premature ageing of cells. It also acts in amino acid transport and detoxification pathways.

The liver holds the reservoir for glutathione and supports the liver’s detoxification processes. However, negative lifestyle issues and adverse conditions that affect liver health can result in a decreased amount of glutathione in the liver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why we love it
Glutathione is often referred to as “the mother” of all antioxidants and that’s why I love it.

I take 1 x Glutathione a day for extra strength antioxidant protection, along with VitC. Combining  Glutathione supplementation with an equal or double dose of Vitamin C maximises its effects. Vitamin C has a cumulative effect within the body and scavenges a greater percentage of free radicals.

I also love Glutathione as it is vital for optimal health.

The body naturally produces Glutathione, the master antioxidant, to detox our body of all the toxins and chemicals we are exposed to.

However, our demand for glutathione increases when our body can’t produce enough of Glutathione to keep flushing out all the toxins we are exposed to.

Age, diet and stressors all play a role in increase toxic load which is why it is important to learn how the master antioxidant works in your body and how you can get more.

Glutathione helps with:

●  Mind – Healthy levels of glutathione aid in focus and clarity. Low glutathione levels in the brain have related to the oxidative stress occurring in neurological diseases.

●  Body – Antioxidants, especially glutathione, are essential to balance the free radicals that cause oxidative stress and lead to chronic inflammation. This is crucial to overall health as chronic inflammation is at the core of several disorders in the body and disease.

●  Health – Glutathione boosts the liver’s ability to get rid of waste and toxins, increasing energy and vibrance. It’s also integral in the processing of oxygen in the mitochondria, making one less prone to fatigue.

A must for your Medicine Tool Box!

Why is Glutathione more powerful than other antioxidants?
Glutathione (GSH) is your body’s strongest antioxidant. It has an enormous capacity to combat oxidative stress and neutralise harmful free radicals.

In fact, your body needs to make glutathione in order for you to live a healthy life. Scientists have even suggested its levels as a great predictor of one’s lifespan.

When is it best to take?
You can take Glutathione any time of day, with juice or water in between meals.

We think it is important to take this in the morning or on an empty stomach. After taking, wait 20 minutes before eating. This will ensure the glutathione is absorbed without interacting with food, medications or other supplements. You can also take it at night but wait 2-3 hours after your dinner.

Signs you need to take more glutathione?
Frequent infections like colds or flu. Difficulty managing weight. Allergies. Chronic fatigue
Learn More about Glutathione
Glutathione is often referred to as “the mother of all antioxidants,” and is one of the most talked-about supplements in the healthcare industry. It has a range of purported benefits that include enhancing heart, liver, and brain health.

WHERE TO FIND IT?

Foods with Glutathione (GSH)
A number of foods contain the building blocks for glutathione. These can be a great addition to your diet.
• GARLIC, asparagus, and cruciferous vegetables boost glutathione through their sulfur components.
• Animal food sources, which are higher in cysteine and methionine, can also help increase glutathione levels. Calcium and riboflavin also increase glutathione, dairy being a source of both

1) Fights Oxidative Stress
Glutathione reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative stress in the body, which would otherwise damage cells and DNA.

Glutathione is equally important for the regeneration of other antioxidants your body needs, such as vitamin C and vitamin E. It increases your overall antioxidant defence, a task that can never be accomplished just with one substance. It also recharges other antioxidants, thus preventing chronic diseases.

2) Lowers Inflammation
Glutathione (GSH) blocks the production of most inflammatory cytokines. If you suffer from chronic health issues, cytokines may keep you in a state of constant low-grade inflammation

In short: healthy levels of Glutathione = no inflammation = no disease

A number of airway and lung diseases are caused by excessive inflammation, and they can benefit from restoring healthy glutathione levels.

3) Anti-Ageing
Cells depleted of glutathione are susceptible to damage. Low levels trigger a cascade that ultimately leads to cell injury and death, which accelerates ageing

4) Mental Health
Anxiety, Depression & Stress, OCD and (the cure for) Schizophrenia

People with schizophrenia have low glutathione levels. NAC, which increases glutathione levels in the brain, improved symptoms of schizophrenia in clinical studies

5) Autism & ADHD
Oral and transdermal glutathione is being developed to restore levels in autistic children

People with ADHD have low glutathione and high oxidative stress levels. Pycnogenol, another natural GSH booster, normalized glutathione and overall antioxidant levels in children with ADHD

6) Protecting the Brain
The buildup of toxic proteins in Alzheimer’s further lowers GSH levels, making the patients more likely to be deficient.

Glutathione may help combat the oxidative stress that damages dopamine
Neurons in Parkinson’s disease.

People with Parkinson’s have low glutathione levels in the brain, and boosting GSH may be an early measure to prevent this disease

7) Fighting Infections
AIDS patients produce less GSH, which weakens their already fragile immune systems and decreases insulin sensitivity, Increasing glutathione levels may help improve symptoms and reduce the incidence of bacterial infections.

8) Gut Health
People with IBD have decreased activity of the enzymes involved in glutathione synthesis. They also tend to have lower levels of its main ingredient, cysteine
The most important enzyme involved in quenching free radicals is called glutathione peroxidase. This enzyme uses glutathione and requires selenium,  to work with harmful substances. High levels of this enzyme point to more oxidative stress that needs to be neutralised

9)Heart Health
Low activity of glutathione peroxidase and low levels of glutathione are linked with high oxidative stress and an increased likelihood of heart attack

It can solve illnesses related to:
Kidney
Liver
Diabetes
Nerve and brain damage
Addictions
Lung and airways (shortness of breath, loss of smell or loss of taste)
Sleep apnea
Skin spots and patches
Even Acne!
Eyes
Cystic fibrosis

In pregnancy or Breastfeeding
Always consult your Dr.

Low glutathione levels may predispose pregnant women to depression and impair fetal brain development. Increased oxidative stress in the fetus has been linked to preterm labour.

What is Glutathione?
Glutathione (GSH) is your body’s strongest antioxidant.

Chemically speaking, glutathione is a tripeptide made up of 3 amino acids
• Glutamic acid
• Cysteine
• Glycine

The body uses glutamic acid to make glutamine. When these three amino acids are combined into glutathione, they gain the power to detox dangerous free radicals, toxic drugs, and Heavy Metals. This mechanism protects your entire body from dysfunction and disease

What it Does
  • Combats dangerous body-wide oxidation
  • Enhances exercise endurance and recovery
  • Promotes healthy circulation and overall cardiovascular function
  • Improves focus, memory and cognitive health
  • Eases everyday joint aches and pains†
  • Supports a properly functioning immune system
  • Reduces skin dryness and wrinkles
