Coyne – What is Bio-Shoden Ashwaganda?
Ashwaganda is a small scrub belonging to the Solanaceae family. It grows prolifically in dry regions of South Asia, Central Asia, and Africa, and is extensively used in Ayurvedic medicine, an ancient Indian system. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that has been traditionally promoted to enhance youthful vigour, muscle strength and overall health. It helps with the effects of stress and restores normal physical function. Ashwagandha has been widely studied, with over 1300 studies on PubMed.

Caution: Do not use in pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Interactions may occur with antidiabetic medication, benzodiazepines, central nervous system and immune suppressants, thyroid hormones. Discuss with healthcare provider when dealing with auto-immune conditions and thyroid disease. Discontinue 2 weeks before surgery. May interfere with testing digoxin levels. Assess sedative effect before driving and using heavy machinery, as well as leisure activities such as rock climbing.
